Cave Story
« on: March 30, 2008, 05:41:32 pm »

Cave Story is an amazing and free game created by this Japanese guy who calls himself Pixel. It's a Platform-Adventure game (think Metroid or the recent Castlevanias), and is really addictive and amazing. There are tons of secrets and things to find. The game is incredibly coded, I'd say it even surpasses the quality of most modern commercial games.

The game has a pretty cool story as well. You start out as this little dude in a cave with no knowledge of anything around you, and as you go on you learn more and more about your surroundings and the back story and whatnot. The game has three different endings, and quite a handful of bosses. The game is decently lengthy, itll probably take you well over four hours at the least in your first run through.

Platform-wise, the game was designed for Windows, however, it has been ported to Mac OS X and Linux (though it also runs fine in WINE!), and even the PSP, Xbox and GP2X! There's also a Nintendo DS port in development. All the console ports are all homebrew, however, a commercial PSP port is in development that will feature enhanced graphics and maybe some other things.

Included here is an installer I made of the Microsoft Windows version. Have fun!

Get it here!

I disagree on the well coded part, back when I was still running Windows XP 64bit it crashed the whole system.

It was coded for 32 bit systems, but I can see where you're going with this.
